Sino-Swedish Cooperative Program to be Closed with Remarkable Results
International | 2011/3/15The 4th workshop of Sino-Swedish Cooperative Program on IMT-Advanced and Beyond was held on March 10th of 2011 in Sanya of Hainan province of China. Mr. Xu Hai, Counselor from Department of International Cooperation of MOST; Mr. Qiao Jian from MOST; Mr. Carl Wickman and Dr. Ciro Vasquez from VINNOVA attended the workshop representing Chinese and Swedish governments. The workshop was attended by over 70 experts from the project undertakers, including Prof. You Xiaohu, Secretary-General of FuTURE FORUM and the staff from FuTURE FORUM Secretariat.
Prof. You Xiaohu hosted the opening ceremony, on which Mr. Xu Hai made the first address. He strongly affirmed the close cooperation between Chinese and Swedish experts as well as the remarkable academic achievements gained during the past three years. He also mentioned that this is the first bilateral cooperative project in information field between China and Sweden, involving about 100 experts from over 20 universities and research institutes, and carrying great innovative exploitation in such scaled cooperation rarely seen internationally. He hopes the Sino-Swedish cooperation will continue profoundly and persistently. Mr. Carl Wickman, who has been engaged in the whole process of the program, addressed that the remarkable achievements and the close cooperation and friendship between Chinese and Swedish experts during the past three years impressed him very much and that the program reached the preset goals and laid a sound foundation for the further cooperation.
On the workshop, experts from China Mobile, Huawei, and Ericsson were invited to give speeches respectively on the green evolution of mobile operation, LTE evolution and LTE-A heterogeneous network research, stating the research situation of industrial and technical standards and the hot issues mainly concerned by the operators, bringing forward ideas and opinions on behalf of industrial researchers. The follow-up panel discussion focused on the interaction between academy and industry as well as the future orientation of technical development. All the researchers, experts and industrial seniors were actively involved in the heated communication. Besides, the sub-projects demonstrated their achievements through posters which gave a lively description of the technical progresses and difficulties on which all the attendees had full discussion and exchange.
On the summary meeting, the experts on the steering board and all the experts summarized the research results gained during the three years, and the mode and orientation for the new projects. Prof. You Xiaohu, head of the steering board, made the conclusion, in which he mentioned that all the undertakers will assort the both governments in the final examination and assessment of the program, and put forward the schedule for the application of the new program. Prof. You hopes that all the experts can provide valuable suggestions on the content and cooperative mode for the new program and cooperate wit the both governments in the preparation for the initiation of the new program.
