FCN 2025 Successfully Held in Belgrade

The 3rd International Conference on Future Communication Networks (FCN 2025), Organized by FuTURE Mobile Communication Forum, China, University of Novi Sad, Serbia, and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence Research and Development of Serbia, and is technically sponsorerd by IEEE Communications Society, was successfully held in Belgrade, Serbia from August 18 to 22, 2025.

FCN is dedicated to providing a high-level platform for academic and industrial experts and scholars from around the world to exchange ideas, focusing on cutting-edge research and technological advancements in the field of future communication and networks. This year's conference received academic papers from over 70 universities, research institutions, and companies across 16 countries and regions, including China, Serbia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Portugal, Greece, Sweden, and Turkey. After a rigorous review by the program committee, 55 papers were ultimately accepted and presented at the conference.

The opening ceremony featured addresses by Dr. Chih-Lin I, FCN 2025 General Chair,Chief Scientist of China Mobile Research Institute (CMRI), Chairman of the 5G/6G SIG of FuTURE FORUM, IEEE Life Fellow; General Co-Chair Prof. Dejan Vukobratovic from the University of Novi Sad; and TPC Chair Prof. Jun Zheng from Southeast University. The conference included 7 keynote speeches, 10 sessions, 2 workshops, and 1 Special Panel, comprehensively covering key topics in future communication and networks.

The Special Panel delved into key issues such as: what new business models and operational challenges may arise from the integration of robotics and 6G; what are the major standardization challenges for 6G; and how collaboration among academia, research institutions, and operators can accelerate technological advancements.

On the afternoon of August 18, a workshop themed "Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Empowered Internet of Things (AIoT)" was successfully held during the conference. It was jointly organized by Tongji University, the University of Novi Sad, and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence Research and Development, Serbia. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on AI-empowered IoT.


The workshop was chaired by Professor Dejan Vukobratovic from the University of Novi Sad.

On the afternoon of August 19, a workshop themed "Exploring the Intersection of Blockchain and Policy: Shaping the Future of Decentralization" was successfully held during the conference. It was jointly organized by Tongji University, and the University of Glasgow. Attendees engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on blockchain technology and its policy implications.

Konstantinos Stylianou, Professor of Competition Law and Regulation, University of Glasgow, UK, delivers a keynote speech titled Antitrust in the Decentralized Economy: What is Old, What Is New, What Is Necessary?

On August 20, a delegation of FCN 2025 experts visited Novi Sad at the invitation of Prof. Dejan Vukobratovic and Dr. Dragisa Miskovic. The delegation toured the The Institute of Artificial Intelligence Research and Development of Serbia, as well as the Micro and Nano Electronics Laboratory, the Wireless Communications Laboratory, and the Speech Technology Laboratory at the University of Novi Sad.

They attended presentations by researchers including Dr. Dragisa, Professor Dejan, Dr. Sanja Kojic, Dr. Tijana Nosek, and Dr. Sinisa Suzic, who shared updates and achievements on their current research work. Experts from both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on potential collaboration prospects and future research directions.

Just before the opening of the conference, FCN officially established its football team. On August 18, the FCN guest team played a lively friendly match against a local team composed of faculty and PhD students. This cross-border friendly match provided a relaxed and engaging platform, fostering camaraderie between FCN participants and the local academic community in Serbia. After the match, players from both sides gathered for a group photo and expressed their intention to continue such football exchanges in the future, extending the transnational friendship sparked by FCN.

On August 22, FCN 2025 concluded successfully in a warm and vibrant academic atmosphere. Prof. Jun Zheng, FCN2025 TPC Chair, announced that FCN 2026 will be held in Italy. Participating experts expressed their continued support for this international academic event and looked forward to gathering again next year.
