International Elite Forum on Mobile Internet Technology, hosted by FuTURE FORUM, was held in Beijing on November 25th of 2011. Operators and manufacturers from the global mobile Internet field, and experts from relative research institutes were invited to have in-depth discussion on the international mobile Internet technologies and application development trend, evolution and innovation of mobile Internet technologies. Academician WU Hequan from CAE, Mr. WEN Ku, Director of Department of Science and Technology of MIIT, and Prof. YOU Xiaohu, Secretary-General of FuTURE FORUM hosted this Forum.

Mr. WU Hequan pointed out in his address that the opinions, experience and future strategies on the development of mobile Internet from Europe, America, Japan and Korea are worth being learned by Chinese industry. He hopes that some possibility of cooperation between China and other countries could be found through this Forum. Mr. WU expressed that China’s development of mobile Internet will provide not only huge market but also contributions to international technical and industrial development.

Mr. WEN Ku expressed that mobile Internet had been rapidly developed in recent years and mobile Internet technologies are gradually exceeding the orignical PC Internet technologies. With the international rapid development of mobile Internet, China’s mobile Internet industry is still in its infancy but with flourishing stance. Mr. WEN Ku indicated that the rapid development and huge market of mobile Internet mean both opportunities and challenges to mobile operators, Internet enterprises, equipment and terminal manufacturers. Though developing fast, mobile Internet is still lack of the industrial pattern and commercial service mode. So faced with the current development of mobile Internet, we should consider how to find accurate position in the industrial pattern, give full play of our advantages, strengthen the cooperation on the industrial chain, and realize an allwin result. Meanwhile we should focus on the breakthroughs on key technologies, innovation of commercial modes, and how to bring more services and innovative applications to the users.

Mobile Internet industry has been included in the development strategy of China’s electronic information industry, covering three major state medium-and-long-term scientific and technological projects. Mr. WEI Shaojun, Director-General of State Major Special Project on Core Electronics Components, High-end Chips and Basic Software Products and Director of Institute of Microelectronics of Tsinghua University; Ms. CAO Shumin, Vice Director-General of State Major Special Project on the Next Generation Broadband Wireless Mobile Communication Network and Director of CATR; and Mr. QIU Ciyun, Expert from State Major Special Project on A Great-Scale Integrated Circuit Manufacturing Equipment and Complete Sets of Technology and CEO of SMICS; respectively introduced the latest development and suggestion on the current development of mobile Internet from the aspects of microprocessors and operation system, network technology development and integrate circuit.

Mobile Internet is in its explosive development internationally. Mr. WANG Zhong, Vice President of Deutsche Telekom in Greater China Region, Mr. WANG Tong, Senior Vice President of Samsung, Mr. Akio MOTAI, President of YRP Promotion Committee, and Mr. HOU Jilei, R&D Director, Head of Qualcomm China R&D Center, respectively introduced the development situation and strategy of mobile Internet in different countries.

During the recent years, the global mobile Internet industry has been rapidly developed, and become the important field with the most intensive competition and most active innovations. China’s mobile Internet has also entered its fast development, achieving some results in smart terminals, network platform and application services. This Forum aims at promoting the communication and cooperation of mobile Internet research results between China and other countries, propelling the global development of mobile Internet, offering references for proper orientation for China’s development while observing the evolution routes of other countries.
