Rohde & Schwarz confirms its role as an important partner in the 5G ecosystem.
In June 2015, in cooperation with FuTURE FORUM, Rohde & Schwarz hosted the 5G Future – Testing Symposium 2015 at Rohde & Schwarz headquarters in Munich.

The 5G Future – Testing Symposium offered researchers, developers, manufacturers and test equipment users an excellent opportunity to exchange views on technology trends, recent achievements and to find out about key 5G design. Testing challenges that the industry faces can be identified and discussed while learning about the latest developments in test technology and test solutions from Rohde & Schwarz.

The format of the 5G Future – Testing Symposium was a conference of technical presentations (delivered by technology leading companies from the entire 5G ecosystem and by Rohde & Schwarz) plus an extensive interactive demo area and two deep dive seminars.

Contributors included mobile network operators (China Mobile, China Telecom, DOCOMO Communications Laboratories Europe), network infrastructure providers (Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia), chipset and component manufacturers (Intel, Xilinx), universities and research institutes (Fraunhofer HHI, Peking University, Southeast University). The presentations covered subjects such as spectrum exploration, channel measurements, new 5G air interface technologies and comparisons, antenna technologies, testing challenges and concepts, and the 5G UE perspective.

Over 100 attendees from leading technology companies and leading 5G countries (China, Japan, USA, Sweden, Italy, Netherlands, UK, Ireland, Australia and Germany) participated in the 5G Future – Testing Symposium and provided consistently positive feedback on this 5G event hosted by Rohde & Schwarz.

Lifang Kirchgessner, Vice President of Global Customers and Markets in Rohde & Schwarz, pointed out that “the main intention of the joint 5G event is to contribute to the ‘5G bridge’ between China/East and Europe/West”.

Christian Leicher, President and COO of Rohde & Schwarz, delivered the opening keynote speech, emphasizing that “the transition to 5G networks requires the strong cooperation of all stakeholders in the mobile industry ecosystem” and that “Rohde & Schwarz is engaged in collaboration projects with leading partners, contributing 5G test solutions, concepts and know-how”.

In his keynote address, Prof. YOU Xiaohu, the Secretary-General of the FuTURE FORUM, provided an overview of FuTURE FORUM activities and stated that “the FuTURE FORUM appreciates this international 5G event hosted by Rohde & Schwarz as important for joining forces on 5G”.

All the speakers, demo experts and seminar ‘teachers’ made our joint 5G event interesting and exciting”, stated Arnd Sibila, Technology Marketing Manager in Rohde & Schwarz.
