Seminar on Broadband Wireless Access Technology held in Beijing Jade Palace Hotel

As one of the newly emerged technologies on the mobile communication market and represented by LMDS, MMDS, WIMAX, Wibro, Broadband Wireless Access Technology has been developing on a totally different way compared to that of Cellular Mobile Communication Technology and been accepted and supported by the manufacturers and operators in mobile communication field. In order to further promote the development of broadband wireless access technology and to keep pace with the convergence tendency of the development of multiple future mobile communication technologies, FuTURE FORUM held the Seminar on Broadband Wireless Access Technology in Beijing Jade Palace Hotel on November 22nd.

The seminar was attended by Mr. Zhang Xinsheng, Vice Director-General of Department of Science and Technology and Mr. Yu Shengduo, Division Director from MII, as well as the representatives from domestic and foreign operators, manufacturers and research institutes. Prof. You Xiaohu, Secretary-general of FuTURE FORUM, hosted the seminar, on which seven experts made lectures on special subjects.

Some hot issues were discussed on the seminar such as the relationship between Broadband Wireless Communication Technology and the cellular system, the prospect of the development of Broadband Wireless Access technology in B3G system, and how to seize the opportunity during its development. The experts respectively made lectures to articulate their opinions on the current situation and development tendency of Broadband Wireless Access Technology. According to the experts, the BWA Technology should be actively promoted in China and the network coverage should be gradually expanded from local applications based on accurate market orientation and flexible features. In addition, it was proposed by some experts that new media should become an innovative direction for the development of Broadband Wireless Access Technology.

Prof. You made a conclusive speech at the end of the seminar, confirming that the seminar had reached the anticipated goals and hoping that certain consensus could be made to serve as the references for the governmental decision-making as well as for the future development of Broadband Wireless Access Technology.
