With the competition on technology getting more intense, users pose more requirements on the individual services and more attention has been attached to the research on future mobile communication services. In order to further define the user and system requirements on technology under ITU framework as well as to study and promote the R&D of future service and application based on the actual industrial situations, FuTURE FORUM held the Workshop on Future Service and Application at Beijing Xiyuan Hotel on December 19th of 2007.

On the workshop, the progress made by the working group on user and system requirements was firstly introduced. DoCoMo, as the largest operator in Japan that is leading the international mobile services, introduced the latest achievements on the workshop such as i-mode “always on line”, mobile purses, positional service that can be applied in various scenarios, in which the user-oriented idea has gone through and various application scenarios are demonstrated as well.

In order to expand and enrich the research contents and thoughts, FuTURE FORUM invited some special speeches from Google, Sina, and Kong Net. Google introduced its strategies in developing mobile internet searching, and Sina stated the development trend of future service from the aspect of marketing, while Kong Net, representing value-added telecom enterprises in China, introduced their development of value-added services in the future.
