On October 19th of 2009, the 7th Cross-Forum Meeting was held in Double-Tree Hotel in Beijing, which was participated by over 30 attendants, including the representatives from FuTURE FORUM, WWRF, mITF and NGMC, and the experts from Huawei, NSN, Vodafone, France Telecom, Samsung, CATR, UESTC, NiCT and CENNS.

Cross-Forum Meeting, since its foundation, has been an important platform for the experts from various regions and organizations to communicate on the international R&D of future mobile communication technologies and the progress of the international standardization. Recently, during the process of ITU recruitment of 4G (IMT-A) standards, the framework of 4G standards has been generally confirmed. Cross-Forum Meeting, based on the tenet of concerning future development and leading industrial evolution, began to consider the development trend for post-4G technology and industry. The 7th meeting gave a full discussion and communication on the future Internet and development of future mobile communication technologies.

Some representative of FuTURE FORUM attended the meeting hosted by Dr. Werner Mohr from NSN, including Prof. You Xiaohu, Secretary-General of FuTURE FORUM, Ms. Fu Jun, Vice Secretary-General of FuTURE FORUm, Mr. He Baohong, Director of IP &Multimedia Research Dept. of CATR, and Ms. Yao Jing from Huawei. Dr. Nigel Jefferies from Vodafone, Chair of WWRF firstly made a speech in which he mentioned many countries and regions have set certain projects the R&D of future requirement and development of the Internet from the aspects of innovation and smooth evolution. WWRF also set up a research team on the Future Internet keeping carrying on relative R&D work. Mr. He Baohong from CATR introduced the evolution trend and possible route for the Future Internet. The experts from Europe, Japan and Korea, respectively introduced the EU 7th Framework and the progresses gained during the relative R&D of future Internet. Dr. Sung-Moon Shin, Secretary-General of NGMC of Korea, and Prof. Liu Hao from UESTC, respectively introduced the general development of future mobile communication technologies and the progresses on the research on the Frequency sharing technologies related to post-4G technologies.

While the application and development of the future Internet technologies has gradually become the hotspot, the development of the post-4G technologies will be closer to the requirements of the users and operators, and the flourishing of the diversified applications of future Internet will offer great reference and promotion to the development of the future mobile services.
