Workshop on FuTURE FORUM Development Strategy
Seminar | 2010/3/29March 26, Workshop on FuTURE FORUM Development Strategy was held in Capital Hotel.
With the 4G standardization and flourishing of 3G industry, wireless mobile communication has entered a new historic period, when China is ready for its twelfth 5-year plan. New requirements will be put on the information industry, while the stresses and direction for the Forum work will be faced with new deployment and adjustment. In order to grasp the strategic orientation, and to further improve the work of FuTURE FORUM in the coming five years, FuTURE FORUM organized this workshop to hear the suggestions and instructive guidance on the future development from the principles. Nearly 20 leaders from relative governmental departments and the representatives from the operators attended the workshop, including Mr. Feng Jichun, Director General of Department of High and New Technology Development and Industrialization of MOST, Mr. Wen Ku, Director General of Department of Science and Technology of MIIT, Mr. Zhang Xinsheng, Counsel of Bureau of Telecommunication Administration, Mr. Li Haiqing, Deputy Director-General, National Radio Management Committee, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Mr. Wang Qiming, Counselor of Department of International Cooperation of MOST.
Prof. You Xiaohu, Secretary-General of FuTURE FORUM reviewed the achievements of FuTURE FORUM since its foundation. Established in 2005, FuTURE FORUM has successfully fulfilled the target of acting as an international platform for cooperation and communication. Prof. You Xiaohu concluded the work of FuTURE FORUM from four aspects: first, focusing on technology trend, grasping industrial orientation and organizing coordinative research; second, focusing on the national significant research project and pre-standardization research; third, promoting the cooperation among the members, as well as government-production-study-research-application and international cooperation; fourth, realizing the importation and exportation of technologies.
After hearing the work summary of FuTURE FORUM, the guests discussed the gains and losses during the five years and proposed the direction for the future development. The guests generally agreed that the Forum was established with the forward-looking and clear positioning, with relative standard, international and open operation, better connection with the international standards, and contributed a lot to China’s standard output. In addition, FuTURE FORUM achieved a lot in industry-study-research cooperation and international communication, and played an important role in the prophase research of the significant projects.
Regarding the further development of the Forum, the guests highlighted that FuTURE FORUM should make correct orientation and be opener and more important in the international cooperation when great changes have taken place in the international development of wireless mobile communication. Besides, FuTURE FORUM should maintain the achievements gained in the promotion of the international cooperation and projects, such as Sino-Swedish Strategic Cooperative Programme and Sino-Japan Technical Workshop, and should continue to play an important role in the promotion of the international cooperation projects. With regard to the research, the guests proposed that FuTURE FORUM should continue to promote the development of LTE technologies, making simulation verification and theoretical support in network architecture and anti-interference. Meanwhile, the research should not be restricted to mobile cellular network, but to expand to LAN, Short-range wireless communication, and some integrated technologies in actual applications. And with the spectrum resources getting increasingly intense, FuTURE FORUM should also conduct some in-depth and forward-looking research on radio applications to provide certain reference to spectrum allocation.
