Research | 2010/3/31FuTURE White Paper Evaluation Meeting was held in Xiamen on March 26th of 2010, which was attended by the reputed experts from 8 universities including Southeast University, Tsinghua University, and USTC, the staff from Tsinghua University Press, chairs of FuTURE working groups, and the representatives of the white paper editorial board.
FuTURE working groups have been conducting top-down technical research on user requirements, service and applications, spectrum propagation, transmission technology, radio resource management and network architecture; and assembled the research achievements into the annual technical white paper. During the recent two years, the development of future mobile communication technologies has experienced new forward and challenges. IMT-A (4G) standards of ITU will be formally confirmed in 2011. With the clarification of 4G development trend, exploration and research on post-4G technologies has been initiated. Under such environment, the summary and extraction of LTE and IMT-A research results, and the exploration of post-4G technologies have become the theme for the research of FuTURE FORUM and the major features of FuTURE White Paper 2010.
The experts gave enormous affirmation to the contents and edition of the white paper, considering it as a beneficial attempt of the coordinated research actively participated by the famous domestic and foreign universities, research institutes and enterprises, and as the first collection of domestic and foreign research results in the field of future mobile communication technologies, as an integration of the advanced research results and an elaboration of the common view of the domestic and foreign research institutes and enterprises on the future convergence trend based on the government-industry-study-research-application platform. Meanwhile, the experts also gave some suggestions on some problems in the white paper, such as the inconsistency of content and language styles of different chapters caused by the independent compilation of different research scopes; not many enough technologies involved; the over-simplified overview of each chapter and barely shining points in technologies. In addition, the experts and the staff from Tsinghua University Press also stressed the issues related to the copyright and references, and suggested to add index list.
The secretariat will work with the working groups to improve the content and format of the white paper according to the suggestions and advice of the experts, making proper preparation for the formal publication of FuTURE White Paper 2010.
