The 3rd Working Group Meeting of 2010 held in Wuxi
Research | 2010/11/5October 26 to 27, the 3rd working group meeting of 2010 was held in Wuxi, during which an IoT related visit was concluded.
Regarded as the third tide in information industry, IoT industry has become a new growth pole in the global economy, and will also become the new strategic industry in China, so IoT relative technologies and innovative applications have been one of the stresses in the R&D and communication activities of FuTURE FORUM. During the 3rd working group meeting, FuTURE FORUM organized a series of visits to the Sensing China Park, National IoT Research and Development Center, and Wuxi IoT Industry Research Institute.
Sensing China Park is the important part in the national sensing network innovation demo center which was built in Wuxi according to the instruction of Premier Wen Jiabao that a national sensing information center of China should be built in Wuxi as soon as possible. Sensing China Park offers a systematic display of China’s most advanced sensing network technologies and solutions, oriented by applications. During the visit, the innovative applications from China Mobile, China’s next generation broadcasting and TV network, and LIT were introduced to the group members, among which the applications of RFID technologies in logistics and shopping attracted high interest from the visitors.
China IoT Research and Development Center is a national “sensing China” innovative base built with the academic superiority of CAS and the technical strength from local industries, in order to construct an innovative value chain from system integration to typical applications. In the center, the members were introduced with many typical IoT applications and solutions, including home security, mobile health care, human body sensor network, environment detecting, SmartGrid, sensing buildings, and sensing airports.
Affiliated to the national sensing network engineering research center, Wuxi IoT Industry Research Institute currently focuses on the national strategies on IoT industry and the significant Sci&Tech projects, promoting the industrialization of IoT technologies, and in charge of the domestic and international IoT standardization work. Here, the smart transportation system aroused much attention from FuTURE members. The system is based on the fundamental transportation information collecting technology, using many highly accurate sensor components to collect and deliver by self-organized network the vehicle information, flow information as well as time/space occupation ratio so as to reduce traffic congestion and accident rates.
