Summit on Information Technology and IoT Strategic Development Held in Xi'an
Seminar | 2011/5/4April 23rd and 24th, Summit on Information Technology and IoT Strategic Development was held in Xi’an. The Summit was hosted by Important Project Office of MIIT, organized by FuTURE FORUM, and executed by The State Key Laboratory of Integrated Services Networks of Xidian University. Leaders from some relative departments attended the summit, including Mr. Wu Hequan, Secretary-General of CAE, Mr. Kan Runtian, Vice director of SRRC, Mr. Cai Suchang, Vice director of Industry and Information Department of Shaanxi Province, Mr. Yang Zemin, Director of CATR and Secretary-General of CCSA, Mr. Chen Zhubing, Director from Department of Enterprise of MOF, Mr. Yu Shengduo, Director from Department of Science and Technology of MIIT, Mr. Ni Xiaolong from Department of Science and Technology of MIIT, Mr. Tian Delu, Director from MOST, Mr. Li Hengshuai, Director from SRRC, Mr. Li Wei from Major Special Project Office of MOST, and Mr. Wen Bin from Department of High and New Technology Development and Industrialization of MOST.
The Summit was paid high attention by Mr. Lou Qinjian, member of the standing committee of Shaanxi provincial party committee and executive governor of Shaanxi Province, who was also the former vice minister of MIIT. Governor Lou authorized Mr. Cai Suchang, Vice director of Industry and Information Department of Shaanxi Province to give an address on the Summit, in which Mr. Lou indicates that IoT is the emerging strategic industry during the global economic and social development, and that Shaanxi Province has done a lot of work for IoT development according to the national and provincial plan for developing emerging strategic industries. The provincial government takes IoT as one of the most important emerging strategic industries, striving for 150 billion profits by 2015, and building Shaanxi Province into a national influential and strong IoT base through years of efforts. Meanwhile, Mr. Lou also stated that IoT is still in its infant and needs more contribution from all the experts from various research institutes. He hopes that good suggestions would be proposed on China’s development of IoT industries on this Summit.
Mr. Yu Shengduo from Department of Science and Technology of MIIT made an address on this Summit, advocating on behalf of MIIT high attention on the development of IoT industry and technologies. During the 11th Five-year plan, the major special project on the next generation broadband mobile communication networks deployed relative tasks on R&D of wireless sensor networks, while in the 12th Five-year plan, the Major Special Project on IoT is set up offering more support to IoT industry. He pointed out that IoT involves many technologies and industrial taches and various applications, so how to realize better design on the top lever in IoT development, integrate key and common technologies, and grasp importing cutting-in points on IoT industrial chain are the major issues requiring prompt solutions when we are promoting the development of IoT industry. He hopes that all the experts can take the opportunity to have broad and in-depth discussion on the above issues and contribute ideas and suggestions on the plan and deployment of Major Special Project on IoT.
The Summit covers the below subjects including key technologies and innovative applications, standardization progresses, and industrial promotion. Leaders and experts from relative departments, academic research institutes, operators, manufacturers, and universities gave valuable speeches and heated discussion on both the macro strategic development and important breakthroughs on concrete industrial applications and technologies. Some issues that are widely concerned were specially discussed, including the common IoT technologies, routes for IoT industrial promotion, and how to construct sustainable IoT ecological chain, and many valuable ideas and suggests are proposed for the IoT development in the Major Special Project on the next generation broadband wireless mobile communication networks.
